About Solomon Behnke

Art for the End of an Age

In my mind, the world is always ending—not in full-on impending doom, but in a quiet unfolding, a continual collapse and shift, paired with the hope of some great reveal. I think my work is a kind of ritual response to that, a sort of witness to the moment before, during, or after the turning. In a time where things feel like they’re just moving way too fast, the figures I create help to slow things down and act as watchers—embodiments of memory, pause, and a stillness at the edge of, or just beyond, the change. Creating these things helps keep a certain part of me alive.
